Bridge at The Cumberland

The CLTC Bridge Club is a friendly vibrant section, with most members having played tennis or squash together for many years. We encourage new members to join, with 10 new people signing up this year and current membership running at 55 players. Members are also able to bring guests.

Bridge is played at the Club alternate Friday evenings from September to July, starting promptly at 7:00pm. We play mainly Duplicate or Teams, with prizes provided for the winners. We have a Professional Director for most Duplicate evenings. Tables are set up in the Ramus Room and we break for a buffet supper at around 8:45pm, for which we charge a £10.00 fee. We also play matches against eleven other tennis, golf and cricket clubs. There are “in house trophies”, being competed for annually. There is ladies bridge in the mornings where teams compete for the Gerber Cup.

A Bridge Noticeboard is displayed in the main CLTC Clubhouse on the mezzanine area opposite Squash Court 3. This board displays details of dates and the forms required to sign up for the various days of play. All sign ups should be made by 12:00 noon on Thursday for play on Friday.

The chairperson of the Bridge Club is Mike Taub, who can be contacted by clicking here to email, and he is ably assisted on the Committee by Ron Lis (Treasurer), Sally Cass, Anna Lee and Linda Simmons. For those players looking to join the section, please contact Mike in the first instance. Mike is also the best person to speak to should you require a partner for any of the sessions.
